About Maxwell James Bennett
Maxwell James Bennett is a writer and graduate of Northern Arizona University, where he studied Politics, Philosophy, and Law with an emphasis in Italian Studies. Originally from Hancock, Michigan, he now lives in Arizona, bringing a Great Lakes perspective to the Southwest.
His writing journey began with poetry and personal reflection, leading to the publication of Until Love Tells Me So, a collection centered on love, heartbreak, and growth. With From the Porch, Bennett expands his focus beyond the personal and into imagined lives, perspectives, and philosophical questions.
Rather than placing himself at the center of the narrative, he steps back, allowing characters, settings, and ideas to take shape on their own terms. His work reflects an evolving interest in society, vulnerability, contemplation, and the quiet complexity of everyday existence.
Bennett’s writing process is rooted in internal dialogue and reflection. Ideas often begin as passing thoughts that linger and develop over time. From there, writing becomes an act of following a thought to its conclusion and discovering what it becomes once fully explored.
Across his work, Bennett invites readers into a space of reflection, curiosity, and openness to uncertainty. When he is not writing, he is often reading, thinking, or searching for his next idea.
